Plastic Woven Fabric Glossary: Woven bags are primarily made from polypropylene (PP) through extrusion and stretching into flat yarns, which are then woven, braided, and made into bags.
Parameters
Common woven fabric densities are 36 x 36 yarns/10 cm², 40 x 40 yarns/10 cm², and 48 x 48 yarns/10 cm².
1. Woven Density Tolerance.
Woven density tolerance refers to the number of yarns that are greater or less than the given standard weave density.
2. Woven Fabric Weight per Unit Area.
The weight per unit area of woven fabric is expressed in grams per square meter and is an important technical indicator of woven fabric. The gram per square meter depends primarily on the warp and weft density and the thickness of the flat yarns. The gram per square meter affects the tensile strength and load-bearing capacity of the woven fabric, making it a key cost control factor for manufacturers.
3. Woven Fabric Tensile Load.
Tensile load is also known as tensile strength. Woven fabrics withstand tensile loads in both the warp and weft directions, hence the terms warp and weft tensile loads.
4. Width.
The width of various woven fabrics directly impacts the bag-making process. For tubular fabrics, the width is expressed by the warp fold, which is equal to half the circumference.
Width shrinkage: The width of all woven fabrics after weaving and winding, after unwinding, cutting, printing, and sewing, is slightly less than the original width of the finished bag. This is called width shrinkage.
5. Hand feel.
PP flat yarn woven fabrics have a thicker, firmer, and rougher feel.
HDPE flat yarn woven fabrics have a softer, smoother, and less dense feel.
Adding calcium masterbatch to PP flat yarns results in a firmer feel. Adding less HDPE to PP flat yarns makes them softer.
Narrow flat yarns result in a flatter weave and a softer feel. Wide flat yarns result in more folds during weaving and a rougher feel.
